The Congress is holding a rally against alleged “vote chori” with a rally at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday (December 14, 2025), seeking to hold the government and the Election Commission of India (ECI) accountable for what it claims to be “collusion to manipulate elections”.
The entire top leadership, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi addressed the gathering. Senior leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K.C. Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh and Sachin Pilot, will also participate. Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi is also present in rally.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar asserted that the Congress party’s rally against alleged ‘vote chori’ (vote theft) in New Delhi is to protect every citizen’s right to vote.
Shivakumar accusing BJP government at the Centre of restricting vehicles with Congress workers from entering Delhi to participate in the party’s mega rally, Shivakumar, who is also the Karnataka Congress chief, said that about 3,500-4,000 party leaders and workers have come from the state to participate in the rally.
Shivakumar said, “We (state Congress) have made accommodation for 1,500 people (party workers and leaders), more than 2,000 people have made their own arrangements. They have come by flight and train. About 3,500-4,000 people have come. About 1.42 crore signatures have been gathered from the state (as part of its signature campaign).”
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, he said, there is a lot of enthusiasm among party workers and leaders, and they are committed to saving the Congress party in the state and the country, and protecting the citizens’ right to vote.
BJP people ‘gaddar’, ‘dramebaaz’; need to be removed from power: Kharge
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the BJP, saying those indulging in “vote chori” are “gaddars” and need to be removed from power to save the voting right and the Constitution.
Addressing the party’s ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’ rally at the Ramlila Maidan, Mr. Kharge said it is the duty of all Indians to unitedly strengthen Congress ideology as only this party can save the country.
He alleged that the RSS ideology will “finish the nation”.
“The BJP people are ‘ gaddars’ [traitors] and ‘ dramebaaz’ [indulge in theatrics]. They need to be removed from power,” Mr. Kharge said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said his party stands with “ satya [truth]” and vowed to remove the “Narendra Modi-RSS government”.
Addressing the party’s ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’ rally at the Ramlila Maidan, he launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission and mentioned the names of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi to allege that they were working for the BJP.
“We will stand with ‘ satya’ [truth] and will remove the Narendra Modi-RSS government from power. They have ‘satta’ (power), and they indulge in ‘vote chori’,” the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said.
Mr. Gandhi claimed that the BJP transferred Rs 10,000 during elections, but the poll panel did not take any action against them. “In this fight between truth and untruth, the Election Commission is working with the BJP government,” he said.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said every step of the poll process arouses suspicion and asserted that the chief election commissioner and the two election commissioners must answer how they “conspired” to take away people’s voting rights.
She named Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, and said the BJP will not be able to save them, as one day they will be forced to answer for “conspiring” to take away people’s vote.

“I challenge BJP to contest polls on ballot paper, they know they will never win,” Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said at the Congress rally against ‘vote theft’.
“You should not lose heart over losing Bihar, entire country knows BJP wins through ‘vote theft’,” she added.
Alleging that elections are not being conducted properly, Ms. Gandhi said that when we see every institution being crushed, all Indians should rise against it.
“EC shutting its eyes to Rs 10,000 being paid during election process; is this poll not ‘vote chori’? All institutions in country being made to bend before government.”
Sachin Pilot slams Centre for ‘hollowing out’ institutions at Congress rally
Congress leader Sachin Pilot alleged that the Modi government was hollowing out institutions, as he called on the people to ensure that the election structure works impartially and Indian democracy remains exemplary.
Addressing the party’s ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’ rally at the Ramlila Maidan, Mr. Pilot said questions are being raised over the neutrality of the Election Commission, but no answer is forthcoming.
“People have gathered here to challenge the government that has created an environment to hollow out institutions in the last 11 years. This cannot continue. I believe that today (Mallikarjun) Kharge ji and Rahul (Gandhi) ji have called you to make a beginning. This will be a long fight,” the former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister said.
“The institutions that we nurtured for 70 years, they are trying to hollow them out and through vote chori they want to prove that by misuse of power and through partiality they can win elections,” he said
BJP weakening democracy by forming governments through ‘vote chori’: Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday accused the BJP of weakening democracy by forming governments through “vote theft” and weakening the power of the votes of people.
Addressing the “Vote Chori, Gaddi Chhod” mega rally at Ramlila grounds in New Delhi, he appealed to the people not to allow “vote theft” in the country while asserting that the Congress would stop such malpractices with the strength of people who are present at the rally.
CM Sukhu said when democracy was established in the country 78 years ago, its biggest strength was to give the power of vote to every citizen. For several years, Congress won and lost many elections to help save that power of the people’s vote, he noted.
Congress leader T.S. Singh Deo slams BJP, says institutions being ‘captured’ to influence polls
Senior Congress leader T.S. Singh Deo on Sunday (December 14) asserted that the Election Commission is being politically misused.
He claimed that constitutional institutions were being “captured one after another” and said it was “unimaginable” that the country could be taken over under the pretext of preparing voter lists.
Mr. Deo said, “It is necessary to make the people of the country aware about this that every constitutional institution is being politically misused by capturing them one after another, and the same is happening in the Election Commission. It was unimaginable that the country could be captured in this way under the pretext of making a voter list.”
Ahead of Congress’s major rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan today (December 14) over alleged “Vote Chori,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) questioned the party’s silence on alleged rigging in the Delhi Assembly eections, asking whether Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, would address the issue of vote theft in the national capital.
The AAP Delhi unit President Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The rally organised by Congress against SIR today at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. We wish them all the best if they want to carry out any public awareness work within the country. However, in the very same Delhi where Congress is holding such a large rally, exactly one year ago, when vote theft was happening, and our senior leaders were presenting evidence, the Congress party remained silent. Will Rahul Gandhi address the issue of vote theft in Delhi, or will he avoid it? If he avoids it, then their entire narrative is for their own party, not for the country.”
