Modi-Trump Meeting Pakistan: “We Should Not Sit Quietly, PM Modi-Trump Meeting Has Agitated Pakistani Media”

Modi-Trump Meeting Pakistan: The Pakistani media has been angered by the meeting between PM Modi and Trump. In an editorial, it is claimed that India is using its economic power and relationships to shift blame onto Pakistan in the U.S.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the United States, where he had discussions with President Donald Trump. This meeting led to a noticeable boost in India-U.S. relations, with Trump offering India the advanced F-35 fighter jets. The immense respect shown to PM Modi during his visit has stirred the Pakistani media. Pakistan’s media organization The Dawn wrote in an editorial that India is leveraging its economic strength and international relationships to shift the blame on Pakistan in the U.S.

The editorial published on Sunday, titled “Maintaining Balance,” stated that with the new U.S. administration under Trump solidifying its hold on foreign policy, there is uncertainty surrounding the future of Pakistan-U.S. relations in the short to medium term. Recent developments have raised concerns. The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs had to publicly express its concerns about the results of the recent meeting between President Trump and Indian PM Modi. Particularly, Pakistan is worried about Trump offering modern military technologies, like the F-35 fighter jets, to India, which could impact Pakistan’s national defense.

The editorial also highlighted the anger over the joint statement issued after the meeting, which called for bringing those responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks and the Pathankot incident to justice and emphasized that Pakistani territory should not be used for cross-border terrorism. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed that such references were one-sided and misleading.

The article further mentioned that the U.S. has appointed Indian-origin scholar S. Paul Kapoor as its representative for South and Central Asia. Kapoor is expected to join the ranks of the U.S. administration’s staunch critics of Pakistan. His appointment has already been seen as a sign of Washington’s tough stance towards Islamabad.

The editorial also raised baseless accusations against India, stating, “There is no doubt that Pakistan’s concerns about India are legitimate. It seems that New Delhi is once again using its economic power to evade accountability for its involvement in global violence and terrorism, while simultaneously shifting the blame onto Pakistan by leveraging its relationships with foreign partners.”

In conclusion, the article urges Pakistan not to remain silent in the face of India’s actions and to adopt a more proactive approach in establishing the truth about Pakistan.
