Congress to Launch ‘Save the Constitution’ Rally Nationwide from April 25

A New Mass Movement After Bharat Jodo Yatra

Save the Constitution: Following the success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, the Congress party is set to launch another large-scale campaign titled ‘Save the Constitution Rally’ starting from April 25. The primary goal of this initiative is to raise awareness among the public about social, economic, and political justice.

Rally Schedule: From States to Booth-Level Outreach

The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting held on Saturday, which was attended by top Congress leaders, including Party President Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh shared the rally schedule with the media:

  • April 25–30: Rallies in various states
  • May 3–10: District-level public meetings
  • May 11–17: Constituency-level rallies
  • May 20–30: Door-to-door ‘Save the Constitution’ campaign

The Core Purpose Behind the Campaign

According to Jairam Ramesh, the rallies are a part of Congress’s plan to spread the message of the “Nyay Path: Sankalp, Samarpan, Sangharsh” (Justice Path: Commitment, Dedication, Struggle) resolution passed during the Ahmedabad convention. He emphasized that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been actively voicing concerns around social justice, and this campaign is a continuation of those efforts.

Key Demands for Social Justice:

  1. Nationwide caste census
  2. Reservation in private educational institutions for SCs, STs, and OBCs
  3. Removal of the 50% cap on reservations

Key Demands for Economic Justice:

  1. Implementation of Minimum Support Price (MSP) as per Swaminathan Commission recommendations
  2. Farm loan waivers
  3. Revival of closed MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises)

Mallikarjun Kharge Slams BJP, Calls Legal Action a Political Conspiracy

Addressing the meeting, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge strongly criticized the BJP over the filing of a chargesheet against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. He called it a politically motivated move.

“It is no coincidence that as Congress was holding its convention in Ahmedabad, the ED launched fresh actions. Similar tactics were used during our Raipur session when raids were conducted on our leaders to disrupt the proceedings. But we didn’t back down then, and we won’t now,” Kharge said.

Reaching the Grassroots: A Call to Party Workers

Kharge urged all Congress workers to ensure that the resolution passed in the Ahmedabad session reaches the district, block, and booth levels. He described this campaign as a decisive battle to protect democracy and the Constitution.
