Maharashtra polls: Akhilesh Yadav Urges United Front Against Mahayuti for Positive Change in 2024 Elections in Maharashtra assembly poll.
Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on Monday called for a unified opposition strategy to challenge the Mahayuti alliance in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Criticizing the BJPโwhich partners with Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP in the Mahayuti coalitionโYadav expressed a strong commitment to defeating what he termed โenemies of Maharashtra,โ aiming to bring positive change to the state.
Yadav, whose party secured two seats in the last Maharashtra elections, is vying for a greater share in seat-sharing talks with alliance partners. Through social media, he addressed the “dear people of Maharashtra” and media representatives, emphasizing the importance of public awareness in ending what he called BJPโs divisive and negative politics.
โWith your awareness, Maharashtra can be freed from the BJPโs conspiracies and divisive strategies,โ Yadav posted on X. He accused the BJP of undermining Maharashtraโs economy and failing to recognize the unified oppositionโs positive agenda. According to Yadav, BJPโs tactics aimed at dismantling the stateโs economy are clear to the public, who are now mobilized against it.
The SP leader went on to accuse the BJP of fracturing Maharashtraโs historic social harmony and attempting to weaken the state economically and politically, allegedly with the intention of shifting the countryโs economic leadership away from Maharashtra.
โThe political, social, and economic consciousness that has awakened among Maharashtraโs people and its media will not allow the BJPโs strategies to succeed,โ Yadav said, urging people to reject the BJP and its allies to safeguard Maharashtraโs pride, jobs, and industries.
Yadav also alleged โmega-corruptionโ by the BJP, claiming that the partyโs policies have led to dishonoring public figures and damaging Maharashtraโs social cohesion. He praised Maharashtraโs independent media for courageously resisting BJPโs โanti-Maharashtraโ tactics, often despite limited resources.
Highlighting the importance of a responsible media, Yadav expressed optimism that Maharashtraโs journalists will continue to act as the โfourth pillarโ of democracy by countering BJPโs propaganda and exposing its tactics. He specifically praised independent media channels and journalists who continue to report on BJPโs political strategies despite financial and operational challenges.
โA joint, organized political strategy will end this โMahadukhiโ period under the BJP-led Mahayuti,โ Yadav concluded, reaffirming his commitment to positive change for Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra assembly election is set for November 20, with votes to be counted on November 23.
