Madani accused that leaders like Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, and Chirag Paswan are overlooking the injustices being done to Muslims for the sake of power.
The prominent Muslim organization, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, on Friday, stated that it would boycott the Iftar, Eid Milan, and other events organized by Nitish Kumar, N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Chirag Paswan, in light of their stance on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. The organization also called on other Muslim organizations to join in this boycott.
Jamiat President Maulana Arshad Madani, in a statement, accused these leaders of supporting the government’s “anti-constitutional measures.” He said, “The current situation in the country, especially the injustice and oppression faced by minorities, particularly Muslims, is not hidden from anyone. It is extremely unfortunate that leaders who call themselves secular and claim to be supporters of Muslims, and whose political success has been backed by Muslims, are not only silent for the sake of power but are indirectly supporting injustice.”
Madani alleged that leaders like Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, and Chirag Paswan are ignoring the injustices being done to Muslims and are also disregarding the country’s constitution and democratic values in their pursuit of power.
He added, “Their stance on the Waqf Amendment Bill reveals their double standards. These leaders adopt a façade of secularism only to gain Muslim votes, but once in power, they completely forget the issues of the Muslim community. For this reason, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has decided not to legitimize the policies of these leaders by participating in their events.”
Madani also appealed to other Muslim organizations across the country to join this symbolic protest and refrain from attending the Iftar parties and Eid Milan events organized by these leaders.
