Congress Mahasachiv: After Poor Performance, Leadership Reshuffle in Congress, Bhupesh Baghel and Nasir Hussain Given Key Responsibilities

Congress Mahasachiv: The Congress party appointed former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel and Rajya Sabha MP Syed Nasir Hussain to key responsibilities on Friday. Both leaders have been appointed as General Secretaries of the party.

Following disappointing performances in recent assembly elections in Delhi, Haryana, and Maharashtra, Congress made significant changes to its national organization on Friday. The party appointed two new General Secretaries and nine new state in-charges. Bhupesh Baghel has been entrusted with the role of General Secretary, while Nasir Hussain has also been appointed as General Secretary. Additionally, Rajni Patil, BK Hariprasad, Meenakshi Natarajan, and others have been appointed as in-charges for different states.

With this reshuffle, the number of General Secretaries in the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has increased from 12 to 13. According to a press release issued by party General Secretary KC Venugopal, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, while assigning new responsibilities to these leaders, also removed Rajeev Shukla, Mohan Prakash, Devender Yadav, Ajay Kumar, Deepak Babaria, and Bharat Singh Solanki from the role of state in-charges.

Rajeev Shukla was in charge of Himachal Pradesh, Mohan Prakash of Bihar, Devender Yadav of Punjab, Ajay Kumar of Odisha, Babaria of Haryana, and Bharat Solanki of Jammu and Kashmir. While Devender Yadav is currently serving as the President of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, Babaria had offered to resign after the party’s defeat in Haryana. Bhupesh Baghel has now been assigned the responsibility of Punjab, while Nasir Hussain has been given the charge of Jammu and Kashmir.

The party also appointed Rajni Patil for Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, BK Hariprasad for Haryana, Harish Chowdhury for Madhya Pradesh, Girish Chodankar for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Ajay Kumar Lallu for Odisha, K. Raju for Jharkhand, Meenakshi Natarajan for Telangana, Lok Sabha MP Saptagiri Ulaka for Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim, and Nagaland, and Krishna Allavaru for Bihar.
